What a bizarre article. I’m British and I can’t think of a single attack in recent years, or in all the years of the IRA troubles that comes close to the grotesque, horrific nihilism of 911. It still makes me shudder.

Nor could I name another single incident or attack that approaches anything like the scale of that day. Airliners used as weapons to level some of the world’s most famous landmarks, leaving thousands dead.

Why object to people’s continuing shock and grief? Or is it because they are American that makes them so deserving of scorn?
