This, a thousand times this. Rian forced new and established characters into impossible contortions in order to make them fit his personal philosophies, rather than let them develop organically though internal motivation.

And I can’t agree enough with what you say about Finn and Poe. Rian was so adamant that he would populate his film with strong powerful – white – women, that two of the leads from the previous film – who happen to be actors of colour – have to be the butt of the joke, purely because they are male.

The more this film festers over time, the more I’m convinced it is rotten. Star Wars fans deserved better. Star Wars deserved better.
