Personally I’m not convinced that ‘diversity quotas’ are a real Lucasfilm mandate, or that fans stayed away from Solo because of it, or even that The Last Jedi was that diverse compared to the original trilogy.

However I definitely agree that The Last Jedi is the cause of Solo’s poor performance – for the simple reason that I walked out of Rian Johnson’s movie utterly deflated.

My enthusiasm for Star Wars went from giddy as I walked into the theatre, to spent as I walked out. I think millions of fans felt the same way. I just can’t muster the energy to go and see Solo.

And there’s nothing in Solo for people who do want to see more Rey either.
