It seems to me that this is the beauty of superpowers: gender and/or physical strength become immaterial factors. I never bought Gina Carano’s invulnerability for a second in Haywire, but Captain Marvel or Rey being able to beat up all the boys – or megalomaniac space aliens – is absolutely fine. Now all they have to do is make a good movie
