I still remember that painfully awkward publicity stunt that announced Craig as Bond, when he stepped off that speedboat on the Thames – surrounded by hulking great marines. He looked like a drowned rat. A weedy one with floppy blonde hair. A nation inhaled sharply through its teeth.

Luckily though, turned out Craig was a bloody fantastic actor. And yes, he is the best Bond.

So here’s my suggestion for the next 007 regeneration: hire a good actor.
