How did the Jedi ‘own the Force’ exactly? I see this written everywhere, and still have no idea what it’s supposed to mean.
Did the Jedi trademark it? Did they scoop it out of the air and lock it in a vault under the Jedi temple? Were they litigious against anyone who used the Force without their permission?
I know it sounds profound, but – like everything in The Last Jedi – it’s meaningless. The Jedi didn’t own the Force, they offered Force-sensitive individuals a way to understand and hone their inherent abilities. They offered a path to peace and enlightenment, but it was only offered: Qui-Gon wouldn’t have arrested Anakin if he’d said he didn’t want to become a Jedi.
It’s like building a sequel to Harry Potter around the notion that the wizards have “stolen” all the magic in the world. At first glance you think it makes sense, but then you realise the pompous new writer just doesn’t understand J.K. Rowling’s world.
Gah, I wish Star Wars was never given to arrogant nitwits like Rian Johnson.
